I’m running for the Kerrville ISD Board of Trustees, District 7 because I believe in the power of public education to prepare students for adulthood, the workforce, and meaningful contributions to society. Whether a student’s path leads to college, a trade career, or entrepreneurship, our schools must give them the tools and opportunities to succeed.
I bring a unique perspective to the board with my background in the public utility industry, where I’ve worked alongside both degreed professionals and skilled trade workers. I understand firsthand the value of Career and Technical Education (CTE) and the importance of equipping students with both academic knowledge and real-world skills. Our district must continue strengthening these programs to ensure that students have pathways to good jobs while also supporting local businesses that rely on a well-trained workforce.
I believe in active service and have been fortunate to contribute to both local and broader organizations that strengthen our community:
These roles have given me experience in collaboration, planning, fiscal oversight, and community-focused leadership—skills I will bring to the KISD board.
I’ve served as the CEO and General Manager of the Kerrville Public Utility Board (KPUB) since 2015, where I lead budgeting, long-term planning, and day-to-day operations for our community-owned utility. I have extensive experience with complex budgeting, ensuring financial responsibility while maintaining essential services.
I started my career at CPS Energy in San Antonio, then moved to Kerrville in 2006 to join KPUB’s leadership team, serving as Chief Operating Officer, Chief System Engineer, and Assistant General Manager prior to stepping into the CEO role.
I’m a Licensed Professional Engineer in Texas, and I hold an MBA from Schreiner University and a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University. Through my work across the utility and public power sectors, I’ve developed a strong understanding of state-level processes and regulatory systems—I understand how to work within state bureaucracy to get things done for our community.
There are many similarities between my work at KPUB and the mission of KISD. Both are governmental entities that require careful budgeting, contracting within state law, and compliance with investment rules specific to public funds. Both also rely on advocacy in Austin with legislators and regulators to ensure fair treatment and access to resources. These shared challenges give me valuable experience that I will bring to the KISD Board.
My commitment to KISD is both personal and professional. My daughter is a first grader in the district, and like all parents, I want her to have access to the best possible education. My wife, Jen, is a former Tivy High School teacher who now works with the Kerrville Public School Foundation, an independent nonprofit supporting KISD. Through her experience, I’ve gained insight into the needs of teachers and the value of strong community partnerships in our schools.
We are also active members of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Kerrville, which helps ground our family in faith and service to others.
If elected, I will focus on three key areas:
I have a strong track record of managing complex budgets and making long-term, strategic financial decisions. My experience navigating public-sector systems and working within state bureaucracy means I know how to move initiatives forward while remaining accountable to the public.
Kerrville ISD is a strong and high-performing district, and I want to help keep it that way. I believe in showcasing what’s working, supporting educators, and preparing students for life beyond graduation.
As a trustee, I will bring independent thought, practical problem-solving, and steady leadership to the board. I’d be honored to have your support as we work to ensure KISD remains a district where all students can thrive.
